Stacie traveled to Fort Leonard Wood for their annual Safety Day.  She had the opportunity to take part in their Drown Proofing program with the troops and also toured the new housing being built on the Post.  In both the morning and the afternoon she was tipped over in a canoe, learned how to create flotation devices out of her fatigues while treading water, and got pushed off the high dive more than once!  More pictures to come soon.

Liberty Public School’s “BlueJay Junction Preschool” had their graduation and end-of-the-year presentation on Wednesday evening.  Stacie was thrilled to speak and perform at their ceremony, especially since she was a student teacher for two years at the preschool while in high school.  Stacie’s platform inspired Mrs. Dilonardo to change their usual vocal presentation to a high-energy fitness program full of dancing!  The kids looked SO cute decked out in their workout clothes and sweatbands!  Congratulations to the 2006 graduates J

May 23 & 24, 2006

Stacie finished up her school presentations in St. Joseph, visiting Truman Middle School, Spring Garden Middle School, and Bode Middle School over the course of two days. She had a great time and finished the year in a wonderful school district!

The 2006 Missouri Western Celebrity Golf Classic took place at the St. Joseph Country Club on Monday. Stacie was their as a celebrity on behalf of the St. Joseph YWCA, which is benefited by the golf classic, as well. Stacie attended the social on Sunday night followed by the Golf Classic on Monday. She was paired up with 2 teams - one in the morning and one in the afternoon – and played 36 holes of golf in one day! And she had never golfed before in her life… Here she is pictured with her teams.

Fulton has a new, beautiful 8-screen cinema thanks to B & B Theatres.  Stacie welcomed community members to the Grand Opening Gala on Wednesday evening.  The theatre will officially open up to the public on Friday.  She helped celebrate this exciting event by speaking to the crowd and participating in the official “film” cutting ceremony!  She is pictured here with the new employees.  For more information on B & B Theatres, click HERE.

Happy Mother’s Day!  The Kansas City Express held their annual Mother’s Day 5K in Overland Park, Kansas.  Over 1200 females – from ages 3 to 90! – walked or ran the race at 8:00 a.m.  The purpose of the event is to celebrate and support women’s wellness in Kansas City.  Stacie brought her mom with her as she was on hand to sign autographs, conduct live media interviews, and “crown” the young participants under age 13 at the completion of the race.  For more information, visit www.kcexpress.org or www.mothersdayrun.com.

Stacie was in Kirksville to visit the middle school as she continued her school tour to promote healthy choices.  She enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces from her time in the community while at college, particularly getting to visit with her former dance students.  She is pictured here with three girls who made their own crowns in honor of Stacie’s visit!

I am down to my final month as Miss Missouri, and I am keeping busy as ever.  When I’m not at an appearance I am busy job hunting, planning a wedding, and getting costumes, videos, pictures and farewells together for the Miss Missouri Pageant in June.

Last Friday morning I spoke to Mexico Junior High School’s FCA Meeting.  I had a great time and was so excited to see how many students participate in this club at MJHS!  I was at the Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen Orientation on Sunday, which was held in Mexico as well.  It was absolutely wonderful to see so many smiling faces eager to compete this summer and become a part of the Miss America Organization.  Best wishes to all the ladies this summer!

As you can see from the pictures, I had so much fun throwing out the first pitch at the Royals game last night.  Although the stands weren’t completely full, as it was a Monday night game, it was a thrill to be in front of the crowd at a major league baseball game.  I have become very comfortable with public speaking this year but can’t say the same about showing off my pitching skills in front of two teams of professionals. J

An early Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and all the great mom’s out there!  Have a wonderful week –

Stacie

The Kansas City Royals had a big night at Kauffman Stadium on Monday with a win over the Cleveland Indians.  Stacie must have brought them good luck, as she was honored to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the evening’s game!  She had a great time meeting some players, being on the big screen, and pitching to her fiancé, Andy, who was the catcher.  Her family also stuck around for the game to see their hometown team in action.  Visit www.kcroyals.com!
